CSR & Stewardship

Corporate Social Responsibility has morphed into a higher standard: the principle of stewardship.

At its inception, CSR was something a company could do, i.e., companies ran CSR programs.  The concept of the triple bottom line created new expectations of business - the embedding of an authentic CSR approach into the operations of the organisation: a stewardship mindset.

Community expectations are that companies are stewards of their environment, their community and their society.  Many businesses are not quite there yet. The concept is widely discussed, but the enabling culture and governance practices are still to be embedded into the structural architecture of many corporates.

However, the external pressure is building.  In the competition for talent, the emerging generation of workers increasingly demand a stewardship approach.  So do many consumers and B2B customers managing the integrity of their own supply chains.

Corporate social responsibility & environmental stewardship are community expectations
